There’s a hit of dopamine that spikes at the sight of it. A smile stretches from one ear to the other. I begin to slowly make my way towards it. Each step followed by a shake in my hips and a crease on the side of my lips; I’m dancing, I’m happy.
…I’m addicted to chocolate.
And for good reason. It can be healthy in moderation. Not all hope is lost. I’m of course referring to dark chocolate, the kind that’s over 70% cocoa. The sort that justifies my eating of it.
This way I won’t feel completely guilty when the deed is done, and all the dark chocolate squares turn to crumbs.
Chocolate may be hypnotizing, with its rich flavor profile, but there’s more to it. It’s also known to lower blood pressure, improve blood flow, and improve brain function.
But Wait, There’s more! Antioxidants…
Something else catches my eye, tucked away in a corner of my kitchen– a bottle of red wine. I can’t recall the brand name, but I don’t care much for it anyway.
After a cup or two I doubt it will matter as much. And from what I could find, five ounces would be considered the “proper amount“.
Regardless of what happens afterwards, it’s nice to know that both dark chocolate and wine are rich in antioxidants.
But, if your goal is to find foods rich in vitamins and all that other good stuff, you’re better off going for dark leafy greens and various other fruits.
Now I’m wondering if I should go more into detail about antioxidants, and explore the foods that are rich in them.
